One of the many responsibilities of the City of LeClaire Public Works Department has is to Plow and Remove Snow and Ice on City Streets, Alleys, and City Building Lots during and immediately after a snow event. Here is some more specific information on exactly what the City of LeClaires' Snow Ordinance and Policies are and what happens when a Snow Emergency is declared by the Mayor.
Snow removal highlights:
Snow Ordinance is in effect from November 1 to March 31 of each year.
No Parking or leaving a Vehicle unattended on any City Street, Alley, or City-owned Off Street Parking Area during a snow emergency (declared by the mayor). Check the City website's main page for any snow emergency information.
From November 1 to March 31 throughout the City of LeClaire, parking is limited to the even numbered side of the street on even
numbered calendar days and the odd numbered side of the street on odd numbered calendar days. Days begin at 7:00 a.m. and run for a period of twenty-four (24) hours.
Please DO NOT Snowblow or Shovel Snow onto the City Street or Alley from your driveway or sidewalk. This creates hazardous icy, rough conditions when that snow/slush freezes down after City crews have already cleared the roads. Blowing or pushing snow into a city street is considered an "illicit discharge" and can be fined $250 for the first offence and $500 per day for subsequent offences per City Code.
Please WAIT 24 hours AFTER the last of the snow has fallen before calling City Hall with any snow related concerns.
