What are the requirements for purchasing a building permit? Where do I purchase a building permit?

LeClaire residents can purchase a building permit for $50 from LeClaire City Hall during normal business hours (8:00am -5:00pm Monday through Friday).

Residents need to purchase a building permit for the following projects on your property:

- Fences

- Sheds (120 square feet or less)

- Decks

- Driveway approaches or sidewalks IN City Right of Way (check before you begin)

- Retaining walls

- Swimming pools

- Building Demolition

- Any exterior work (roofing, siding, etc...)

- Solar Panel Installation

- Any exterior construction on your property, etc... will most likely need a permit

The fee for a City of LeClaire "after the fact" building permit increases to $250 and you must stop construction until one is purchased.


COSESCO PERMIT INFORMATION:

If you will be conducting any "land disturbance" excavating, etc..., greater than 900 square feet of ground in size, you are required to obtain a City of LeClaire COSESCO permit in addition to any necessary building permits.  COSESCO Permits also cost $50 and increases to $250 "after the fact".  COSESCO permits are also purchased at LeClaire City Hall during regular business hours.

It's best to call LeClaire City Hall at 563-289-4242 during normal business hours and ask BEFORE you start any work to see in you need any permits if you are uncertain.
